Helping Organizations Connect Since 2016

The Respect Map is a searchable directory of Canadian organizations and service providers who support veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, emergency responders, and their families.

It promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing between organizations at the local, regional and national levels, so they can help all stakeholders to provide more comprehensive services and programs that contribute to the quality of life of veterans, men and women in uniformed service, and their families.

Methodology

Our methodology is based on a progressive crisis risk management model. By looking at crises this way we can analyze and act on crisis risks before, during and after they occur.

To better understand the service landscape for Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP veterans, emergency responders, and their families locally, regionally, and nationally, we are analyzing the service offerings in terms of 4 phases, Prevention, Intervention, Stabilization, and Reintegration.

Phase 1 – Prevention
The best time to prevent or reduce the likelihood of a crisis is before it occurs. In Phase 1, prevention, planning, preparation and education services are key.

Phase 2 – Intervention
During a crisis, intervention services help to reduce its adverse consequences (immediate action).

Phase 3 – Stabilization
Directly following any immediate action, stabilization services (sustained action), need to be deployed.

Phase 4 – Recovery
After a crisis, recovery and reintegration services help foster resilience.

The Respect Map, in conjunction with Respect Forums, allows organizations and service providers to connect with each other and develop a greater understanding of the services each entity offers in order to provide the best possible to each member, in all domains of well-being.

The Respect Forum

The Respect Forum is a national Canadian networking initiative that aims to help improve services for Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP veterans, emergency responders, and their families. The Respect Forum aims to promote a collaborative approach to service delivery, knowledge sharing and knowledge development.

Ottawa Respect Forum Fall 2023

Our Mission is to create a network among organizations who support CAF veterans, Emergency Responders and their families in meeting the array of challenges, such as: transition, mental health, and housing instability, by promoting collaboration that improves the delivery of services.

Respect Forum meetings bring together people from health and social services, all levels of government, universities, community organizations and peer support organizations. Participants can talk about their organization, the services they provide, the challenges they face, and their research and community engagement activities, paving the way for collaboration.
