Family’s wellness can be connected to the individual’s wellness (the person with the addiction) and it can be detrimental to the family unit – the family roles. Our mission is to educate the family on addiction and help them to take their own individual steps into recovery; to be intentional about their own wellness in the midst of the chaotic battle within the addiction.. There is power in knowledge and strength in numbers. If the family/caregivers, become unwell, the person in the addiction will not have a strong, healthy supportive family/community to return to, the cycle of relapse could be ongoing..
There is a cyclical relationship between the power of addiction in the family and recovery.. Just as the person struggling with the illness of addiction needs to step into recovery, so does the family.
Addiction does not happen in isolation and neither does recovery.. This is a safe, non judgmental, place to learn and be supported..
“with the support of PEP and their facilitators, along with my peers, my goal is to be as healthy as I can so that when my son is ready, I can help him. It can be easy to “normalize” the chaos that comes with addiction. PEP helps me to recognize that.” – a parents message
Observational documentation.. our meetings are evidence based and facilitator experience.
